If you are a senior this year, you can apply for the Chief Earl Old Person Scholarship from the Johnson-O’Malley Association. See your teacher or Mr. Manus to get an application and send it in by February 15, 2019!

120th DAY COUNT

Wednesday, February 13th, is a FULL DAY of school. It is very important to be here all day and to ride the bus if possible, as the number of students in school and using the busses will be used to determine resources and funding for our schools next year.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

CPHS will have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 5th from 11am to 7pm. This also means we will not have school that day.

.

Students and families are invited to visit with teachers and participate in some great activities.

We will also have next school year’s calendar options available so you can choose a calendar for the 2019-2020 school year!

PAC MEETING

Students and families are invited to our next PAC meeting on Tuesday, January 29th, at 4pm.

Food will be provided and Dual Credit students may also attend!

CCSD’s Student Photo Contest

Contest Description: The Central Consolidated School District is pleased to announce the “About Your Neighborhood” photo contest. The “About Your Neighborhood” photo contest would like students to submit two photos, one photo highlighting the best about their neighborhood, and one photo highlighting what needs work.

.

Entries should include:

-Name of student photographer

-Student contact Information

-Student School/Grade/Neighborhood

-A brief description of what the student photographer chose to highlight and why.

.

Only original digital photos will be accepted. Photos selected will be used in CCSD community improvement campaigns and will earn the student photographer a gift card.

.

Entries can be submitted until January 15, 2019. Submit your photos to: publicrelations@centralschools.org

CCSD FREE LUNCHES.

CCSD will be providing free lunches to all students during the winter break at Shiprock High School and Kirtland Middle School.

.

Lunch will be served on the following dates from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm:

-December 26th, 27th, and 28th (Wed, Thu, Fri)

-January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (Wed, Thu, Fri)

Christmas Break!!!

Christmas Break for CCSD students will happen starting Monday, December 24th, 2019 through Tuesday, January 8th, 2019. The spring classes will begin on Wednesday, January 9th.

All district personnel are to report for professional development days Monday 1/7 and Tuesday 1/8.

CANDY GRAMS…

Candy Grams are now available from student council members!

There are three types available for $1, $3, and $5.

Please see a student council member ASAP to buy a Candy Gram- they will be given out on Thursday, Dec. 20th and Friday, Dec 21st!

Career Prep will have End-of-Course Tests and Final Exams the week of Dec. 17th – Dec 21st.

Please do not be absent on these days as you cannot make them up over the break!

There will be a short Intensive English session of CareerPrep@Night from December 10th to December 21st.

We will begin PARCC testing immediately after Thanksgiving Break.

.

Testing will be school-wide on November 26th, 27th, and 28th, so please do not be absent and do not try to check out students from school.

Phoenix Automotive Techs Sweep Category at the Navajo Technical University Open House Competition!

Our Career Prep Phoenixes competed Thursday in Crownpoint, NM at Navajo Tech and three of them swept the podium in the Automotive category!

The challenge is to create an app to fill a need, solve a problem, play a game, or anything else you can think of…

The ACT course will be worth 0.5 elective credit and is just as good as, if not better than, the $1,000 “review” courses you can take! The hearings will be held at several locations and times, including

October 29th at the Shiprock PAC.

There will be NO SCHOOL on this day.

Conferences will take place 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The 2019 graduation dates have been changed because the Sports State Play-offs are taking place from May 15 to May 18 for Baseball, Softball and Track.

Elections for Student Council officers take place on Friday, September 28th.

Each grade level will elect a President, Vice President, and Secretary.

To run for office, you need to submit an application and grade check to Mr. Manus by Friday, September 21st.
